Drawing inspiration from trees and the history and culture of Black Mountain College, Artist and Environmental Educator Julie Thomson leads this four-hour workshop based on the teaching of Josef Albers, whose Leaf Studies are one of the least examined aspects of his influential teaching and landmark book The Interaction of Color. Participants will learn about the leaf studies made by Josef Albers and his students at Black Mountain College in the 1930s and 40s. Then, after mindful time collecting leaves in the Arboretum forest, participants will be inspired to work with color and shape to make their own leaf studies.
