Poet and journal keeper May Sarton wrote, “Everything that slows us down and forces patience, everything that sets us back into the slow circles of nature, is a help. Gardening is an instrument of grace.” Enjoy the grace of each season in the garden with Clara Curtis, the Arboretum's Senior Director of Mission Delivery and designer of many of our cultivated spaces and seasonal landscape exhibits. In a recorded presentation, Clara shares the beauty of plants that are at their best with the emergence of spring in the mountains. Join us for a garden stroll with Clara to take an in-person close look at the landscape in Spring Plants of Interest Garden Walk (register separately).
Clara Curtis is the senior director for mission delivery at The North Carolina Arboretum. She holds a bachelor’s degree in horticultural science from N.C. State University. Her designs for the Arboretum’s Quilt Garden, container gardens and seasonal and permanent landscapes are featured for the 28th season and have been featured on UNC-TV and with the Emmy® Award winning Show, “In the Garden with Bryce Lane”, Our State magazine and by the Associated Press. Curtis received the Award of Merit from the American Public Gardens Association for her career achievements.
